Institute: Department of Education and Psychology, The Open University
Anxiety and depression are among the ten most important public health concerns, which in recent years reached epidemic proportions. Current treatments for these disorders are of limited efficacy and are associated with a wide variety of side-effects. Previous studies conducted in our laboratory were able to suggest a possible novel herbal treatment for these disorders. The following proposal describes a further investigation of this treatment, focusing on its influence on a wide variety of behavioral and biological measurements. Results from this study will provide further knowledge regarding this novel treatment's scientific merit and pave the way for future clinical trials.
